Update: Thomas

Well, it's high time I finally get a family update posted. After all, our last post detailed Lizzie's second birthday, and she's about to turn 3 years old! Obviously, much has happened in the intervening year that has kept us busy. To get us completely caught up will take several posts and I think the best way to approach it is to address each member of the family individually.

The best place to start is with our newest addition to the Scarborough/Christie Clan! We welcomed Thomas Annan Scarborough to our rolling circus of a family on 10 October 2014. He was induced at 39 weeks secondary to Julie's history of pre-eclampsia, but the delivery didn't take too long. As a matter of fact, from the time the pitocin was started until we had baby in arms was just over three hours. Julie was a champ from beginning to end, as usual. No pain medications again. I swear, this wife of mine has a super human tolerance for pain. I think I may have heard her grunt in discomfort, but I'm not completely sure if that was her or me. Her weakness, of course, is an unnatural fear of needles, but all superheroes need their Kryptonite, I guess. Anyway, Tommy was born healthy and happy and his brother and sister loved him from the moment they met!

Right as the pitocin was started. You can tell Julie is just thrilled to be at the hospital!

Thomas Annan is here!

Now that's a cute baby!

Grandma and Thomas. We were very lucky to have Debbie at the hospital with us and Wayne available to watch the other two monsters while Tommy was born. Thanks for making the trip to be with us!

Granddad and Thomas. No candy yet, Wayne!

Julie's fantastic OB/Gyn, Dr. Stacey Schmiedecke. She was on call the night before, but still came in to personally deliver Tommy. He decided to arrive so quickly that she barely had time to throw some sterile gloves on for the delivery, but we were very lucky to have her there. Thanks, Stacey!

Our family of five. This is my favorite picture from the delivery.

That's one proud big sister there!

An equally proud big brother.

Auntie Laura and Uncle Randy were able to make the trip as well. You guys are next! I'm officially handing the torch off.

Get used to it, Randy!

Since his arrival Tommy has grown quickly. I always used to feel annoyed as a kid when relatives would comment on how quickly I had grown since they last saw me; it wasn't until now, when I have children of my own, that I realize the absolute truth of those statements. Tommy joined us only seven months ago, yet he is changing before our very eyes. He is a very happy baby, always willing to smile, and he thoroughly enjoys all of the attention that his brother and sister shower on him on a daily basis. He watches them constantly, and I can see that he can't wait to be a part of everything they're doing. We're so lucky to have him in our life and we love him endlessly!

The Super Scarboroughs!

These two kids don't love their little brother...at all. They also don't endlessly smother the poor kid in their attempts to show him how much they love him, necessitating parental intervention on an almost constant basis. Not one bit!

For Halloween, we dressed to a Despicable Me 2 theme. It turned out well. Particularly with Lizzie as the purple Minion. The role fit her like a glove!

Tommy's Minion costume. Julie crocheted the hat, which turned out perfect!

One month old. Absolutely precious!

The family at Tommy's blessing. We were so glad to have everyone over. Thanks for making it a wonderful day!

Tommy with the blessing circle. Nice shades, Troy!

Two months old and smiling! That's one cute kid, if I say so myself.

Tommy's first Christmas at the cabin. As you can see, he got some enthusiastic help from Lizzie.

Three months and getting cuter by the minute!

Who can say no to that smile?

First taste of solid food in the form of rice cereal. Needless to say, he was not impressed.

Grabbing some toes. Contemplating whether he should eat them or not. Decisions, decisions.

GG and Tommy. Those are some great smiles!

Six months old and sitting by himself (after careful positioning). Before you know it, he'll be in college!

Just in case people are wondering if he's ever unhappy, here's proof. When this kid is mad, watch out. He knows how to yell!

Eating watermelon is serious business!

That does it for Tommy. Next up is Lizzie. Stay tuned.
